The Benefits of Latisse®: Getting Longer, Fuller Eyelashes By Nimit D on January 30, 2018

A woman with long, full eyelashesLatisse® is an excellent option for patients who want to enhance the length, fullness, and appearance of their eyelashes. Initially discovered as a cosmetic benefit of glaucoma medication, Latisse® is now available solely to address the cosmetic needs of patients.

Our Ottawa, ON offers many non-surgical treatments that provide benefits over surgical procedures. We’d like to take a moment to consider the basics of Latisse® and then cover the advantages of using Latisse® to enhance your eyelashes.

How Latisse® Works

A drop of Latisse® is applied to the upper and lower eyelids using an application brush. Do this once a day, everyday. That’s all there is to it.

Latisse® will typically be given to patients in 30-day doses. If a patient misses a day, that’s okay. Just use a single drop of Latisse® the next evening—do NOT try to increase dosage to catch up.

Latisse® Is Easy to Apply

As you can see from above, using Latisse® is just so easy. Once a day application of just a little bit of Latisse® is all that’s required to achieve results. There is no special light to activate its benefits, and patients can use Latisse® in the comfort of their own home.

Maintaining Latisse® Results Is Even Easier

After final Latisse® results are achieved, patients reduce the use of the drug for cosmetic maintenance. This typically means using Latisse® just two or three times a week to keep the eyelashes looking fuller and longer.

Results Noticeable in Just Weeks

The results of Latisse® will be visible in just a few weeks. It will usually require about 8 weeks of use before patients really start to notice an improvement in the appearance of their eyelashes. Full Latisse® results will be apparent by the end of 12 to 16 weeks.

Dramatic Improvements in Eyelash Appearance

On average, people who use Latisse® for 16 weeks will have eyelashes that are naturally 25% longer, 18% darker, and 106% thicker than before. Keep in mind that results may vary from patient to patient.

Approved for Use by the FDA

Latisse® has been approved for use by the FDA, meaning it has undergone careful trials and study for safety. This is not an off-label use of the product, and it has been deemed safe for public use.

No Issue Wearing Contacts While Using Latisse®

If you wear contact lenses, you can still use Latisse®. Be sure to have the contacts out when applying Latisse®. As a safety precaution, just wait at least 15 minutes before putting your contact lenses in after applying Latisse®.

Only Minor, Temporary Side Effects

Latisse® has only minor and very temporary side effects, which includes redness and itchiness around the eyes. Only 4% of patients reported these side effects, however. Should any side effect appear, they will usually last just a day or so.

Improved Eyelashes Make a Difference

Thanks to Latisse®, patients can experience the many advantages of longer, more alluring eyelashes. They can bring out the beauty of the eyes and add an extra special something to your face, with every turn or the head or fluttering blink you make.
