Saving Face

A nose often defines a face. When Ed St.Denis lost his to cancer, he was worried what his precious granddaughter would think. He credits an Ottawa oncologist and a cosmetic surgeon with rebuilding his face and saving his life, Julie Beun writes.

It wasn't a noble nose like Cary Grant's. Nor was it memorable, in the class of Adrien Brody's long, bumpy, yet quixotically appealing honker. But to Ed St.Denis, it was his nose, as familiar to him as the back of his work roughened hands.
