What Is Fat Transfer?

The fat transfer procedure consists of three basic stages:

• The removal of fat from an area where it is abundant
• The purification of the removed fat cells

The first of these stages is carried out via liposuction. Liposuction involves the removal of isolated deposits of fat through minimal incisions using a thin surgical device called a cannula. The cannula is used to break up the fat and then gently suction it out.
