Plastic Surgery Pre-operative Instructions
When it comes to getting the best anti-aging treatments possible, it’s important that you meet with real experts in aesthetic surgery and rejuvenation. By discussing your goals and your wishes with an Ontario plastic surgeon, you can learn about all of the options that are open to you. Of course, it’s of the utmost importance that you follow the instructions of your surgeon once a treatment plan has been defined. This is something that you should not take lightly, and we’d like to look at the reasons why.
Why Pre-Surgical Instructions are So Important
Pre-surgical instructions are so important because they help prepare your body and mind for the surgery to come. Be prepping before surgery, you ensure a better surgical experience and reduced risk for side effects and complications in the aftermath of your surgery. When you discuss your surgical treatment with a cosmetic surgeon in Ottawa, be sure to follow these instructions to the letter. You’ll be glad that you did.
What to Consider the Weeks Prior to Surgery
Some surgeries will have special instructions leading up to it, but there are some general instructions that hold true whether you’re undergoing Ontario facelift or an ear pinning surgery.
You will want to avoid smoking and alcohol consumption for a few weeks prior to surgery. Both of these can negatively affect your healing experience by prolonging your healing time. In addition, certain medications should be avoided prior to surgery. You should be well-rested leading up to your surgery and request time off of work or other engagements for a few days after surgery since you’ll want to dedicate that time to healing.
What to Consider the Day of Your Surgery
Regardless what time of day your surgery is, there are a few considerations to keep in mind. And this advice goes for everything from chin augmentation surgery to rhinoplasty (nose job). You will want to make sure you are showered and clean, first of all. You’ll also want to remove any make-up, jewelry, or accessories before going into surgery. It’s important that you show up to the surgery wearing loose-fitting and comfortable clothing as well.
Most importantly, and we cannot stress this enough, be sure to arrange for transportation to and from the surgery. Ideally you’ll want to be looked after by a family member or a friend. This family member or friend should look after you once the surgery is completed as well. That first few days after surgery can be crucial, so it’s a good idea to have someone staying with you and looking out for you and your needs that you trust.
Aesthetic Enhancement Without Extensive Pre- or Post-Op Instructions
If you want to avoid pre-surgical and post-operative instructions, BOTOX® injections, dermal fillers, and many other non-surgical treatments will allow you to do just that. The results are temporary, but they can be comparable to full surgery in many cases. We can discuss these options during your visit to the practice.
